Corporate Profile
Southport is a not-for-profit property management and development company, located 3 km south of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Canada. For 50 years it was home to the Canadian Air Force, and an integral part of the Central Plains economy. Our goal is to establish a world-class business centre balanced with lifestyle, wellness, and recreation facilities. Featuring aviation and aerospace training facilities, research and development of new products, light manufacturing, educational institutions, beautiful open spaces, a golf course, and a fitness centre. The Southport Community offers over 81-hectares available for new commercial and industrial development, while existing structures (over 100,000 square feet) are available for lease. These buildings can be modified or retrofitted to suit a variety of needs. At Southport, we maintain strong alliances with the aerospace and aviation community, and we are one of only a handful of leading industrial locations in North America that offers its own airport. We are proud to have the first private air traffic control operation to be approved by Transport Canada. We are actively marketing our facilities to all appropriate types of businesses/industries with an emphasis on aerospace related activities. A strong roster of commercial tenants is currently located at Southport, balanced with recreational activities, including golf course and bowling lanes. A community unto itself, Southport also offers vast on-site educational and residential opportunities for short and long-term guests, including services such as a diner and hair salon. Centrally located in North America, and less than one hour from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Southport has immediate accessibility via rail, road, and air.
